Diet usually has something to do with you not meeting your fitness goals. Many of you do not have a lot of spare time, and while the team recommends living a stress-free life that allows you to cook all of your meals and spend more time with your family, we know it isn't always going to happen.
We don't want any of you slipping up on your progress. And we definitely don't want any of you slinking to Papa John's for a cheese pizza because you didn't have time to cook. We've partnered with Balance by bistroMD, a meal delivery service that prepares amazing meals with fresh ingredients. And guess what? The meals are delivered to your home for free if sign up for the service through the links in this post.
Now, we didn't want to promote a service unless we tried it ourselves. Two of our nutritionists signed up at their own expense to test it out. Let's see what they had to say:
Dietary Lifestyle: Dairy-Free
Balance by bistroMD offers a dairy-free selection of meals. When the meals that I ordered for the week were delivered, the rep was super helpful and explained what everything was before leaving. That made me feel great right away. For variety I chose a variety of stews, plate meals, and snacks.
I didn't order breakfast items because there weren't any that I wanted. BUT, I did love the lunches and the dinners. My favorite meals were the split pea soup, sloppy joe, and Thai coconut chicken. If I were to make an complaints, I would say that I wanted breakfast variety...and maybe more options besides soup/stew.
Dietary Lifestyle: Gluten-Free
First, I have to say that I am not a fan of pre-made meals. They remind me of microwave dinners. These meals are nothing like those though. I could instantly tell that the company is using real ingredients.
I chose a lot of fish dishes: tilapia, salmon, and cod. There was a blackened tilapia dish that was OUT OF THIS WORLD and I wanted more, but that is the point of these meals, right? It stops you from going back for seconds because there aren't any. I can see how this would help folks stay on point with their eating habits.
I picked a breakfast to try: sweet onion frittata. Right off the bat, I am going to say that I don't care for preprepped eggs. And this proved my point. Eggs just don't taste great after they've cooled down. But that's just me. Other than that, I like the food. It tasted like real food and you can't beat that.
